EC Underwear
There are specialised types of diapers / nappies
available to ECing parents. Each has adaptations for faster baby pottying access. They are easily removed or partially open for potty access, simpler
changing, or easier drying.
There are various types of EC underwear, known
generally as 'training pants' that have
been developed by ECing Mammas to suit little babes through to toddlers. These
EC underpants are
simple to pull up and down, give the toddler earlier independence, and are
very convenient to switch when there are no change facilities available. They
have little bulk, and are simply great to use - once I started using OWP when
Maven was around four months old, I used nappies far less often from
that point on. A fantastic alternative to using diapers. They prevent puddles, feel like regular
underwear and look great. Commercial varieties are usually available in toddler sizes
only.
EC'd toddlers need
knickers that actually fit! Several EC Mums create and
offer custom made little undies for EC families.

Prefold +
prefold belt
 The prefold is the simplest form of modern cloth nappy, and
using a prefold belt, or
a 'scrunchie' makes it easy to whip it open for a timely pee-break on seeing a
sign, is easy to exchange with a dry one when it is wet. The belt is a strip of
elastic, often with a fleece cover, some are adjustable, some are a set size and
just stretch. Great for the
pre-mobile baby and at nights. Useful around the home for fast pee opportunities
when practicing learning new signs with your baby.

or training pants - these are different from a nappy or diaper in that they are
designed to catch 'misses' and prevent 'messes' rather than absorb lots of wees
and extend time between changing. They catch basically one wee and are changed
immediately. As mentioned, they are quite convenient to use, and once using some
- you'll likely get addicted as they are so much easier than nappies!

OneWet Pants from Noonee Wilga
 OneWet
Pants are cloth training pants and consist of a fleece outer with
enclosed inner breathable water-resistant Taslon or PUL and cotton
towelling layers topped with soft cotton flannelette. They are made to
measure to ensure a good fit on any child. There are several styles:
Classic with an elasticised waist making it easier for babies and young
children to pull down and it is simple for one-handed management by
parent or carer; Side Snapping with snaps for easier
clean up in the event of an accident; Summer Weight in which the body of the pants is made of two layers of
cotton interlock for cooler wear in hot conditions or for babies with
skin sensitive to synthetic fabrics.

* a top layer of soft poly/cotton knit fabric against baby’s skin
* 2 layers of towelling hidden inside to absorb moisture

stages of practicing EC, or in different seasons - keeping baby warm while allowing EC to
continue as easily as possible. The "split-crotch" varieties of
clothing make it easy for the transition to independent toileting as well as
discretion when fast access to potty breaks is preferred. Although also
known as "open crotch", this description may describe a variety
where there is no fabric in the groin area - perhaps for babies to wear under
